This off-road trail begins at the Portela Viewpoint. From here you can admire the beauty of Porto da Cruz and Faial, near the imposing rock of Penha d’Águia.

The tour continues along the forest road of the Serra das Funduras. From here we can observe the magnificent Laurissilva forest of the northern slope of the island. The Laurissilva forest was considered by UNESCO as a Natural Heritage of humanity. It was also included in the European network of sites of community importance – Natura 2000 Network. Along the trail through this forest, you can admire the extraordinary beauty of the endemic flora and fauna of the island. The whole environment is almost magical. Enjoy nature while driving and take advantage of the appropriate places to relax a little.

At the end of the trail, you will find the “Casa das Funduras”. This is a beautiful country house that supports the area’s forestry activities. This trail is one of the most exciting in which the driver has to apply himself in order to overcome all the obstacles of the terrain.

Depart from Porto da Cruz (Referta), passing by Portela, Casa das Funduras, stop over Boca do Risco, view over Machico, Fajã dos Rolos, stop at Ribeira Machico, return to Referta.

TRANSFER	Transfer from Hotels in Funchal is free. Outside of Funchal € 15.
GENERAL RULES	All holders of a category B driving licence, valid in the European Union, are allowed to drive. Drivers cannot be under the influence of alcohol or other substances. Drivers should observe traffic rules such as instructions from the briefing Monitor/Guide. In the event of excessive speed, overtaking, detours or too much distance between participants, the tour may be cancelled due safety reasons. For safety reasons, the 4×4 reinforcement and traction equipment will be instructed by the Monitor/Guide and its unauthorized use is forbidden. Participants are required to wear the seat belt, and to keep limbs inside the vehicle. The company has compulsory insurance and the respective licence is registered and authorized by the RNAAT. Passengers must be over 7 years of age. Tours not recommended for pregnant women or people with heart/spinal problems. The schedules and routes can be changed/cancelled for security reasons or due to adverse weather conditions. The trails are subject to landslides, mudslides, poor visibility and abrupt temperature changes.
TIPS & IDEAS	Wear comfortable clothing. Bear in mind that they will get wet, muddy or dusty according to the weather conditions that possibly we’ll encounter. Helmets will be provided for the trip. Rain suits and dust masks, if necessary, will be included for the trip. Do not forget your camera! (However, don’t forget that this activity is likely to be muddy/dusty. We do not take responsibility for damages to equipment.)
CANCELLATION POLICY	Cancellations can be made up to 10 days before the date of the tour, the total amount of the reservation will be refunded, minus €5 for administrative expenses. If for reasons beyond our control we have to cancel the tour we will refund the full amount paid. Or, if the participant agrees we will reschedule the tour to another date.
