The ‘Santa Maria de Colombo’ has daily trips along the coast between Funchal and Cabo Girão with the possibility to see Whales & Dolphins (although this is not the main purpose of this trip). The boat makes a 15/20-minute stop below Cabo Girão for swimming, so if you wish to join, goggles are included so you can take the most advantage of the crystal clear waters (don’t forget your swimwear & towel).

About the “Santa Maria de Colombo”

This magnificent replica of Christopher Columbus’s galleon “SANTA MARIA” was built in the island of Madeira at the small fishing village of Câmara de Lobos. Along with seven local craftsmen, Mr. Robert Wijntje, a Dutchman who has made his home in Madeira, realized his dream when he started building the Santa Maria in July 1997. The construction took one year finishing in July 1998.
